Commercial Bank, Hatton National Bank Joint Winners
The representative of UNICEF Sri Lanka Christian Skoog, underscored the significance of listening to the voices and ideas of children for shaping the future of the planet at the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Sustainability Reporting Awards 2023 concluded recently.

The event serves as a symbol of acknowledgment for companies showcasing remarkable dedication and excellence in sustainability reporting. The 2023 ACCA Awards showcased a diverse range of organizations across multiple sectors competing for recognition in various categories.

The Banking Category – Sampath Bank PLC emerged as the Runner-up, while Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC and Hatton National Bank PLC claimed the Joint Winner title, reflecting their exemplary efforts in integrating sustainability practices within their financial operations. In the Conglomerates & Diversified Category Hayleys PLC secured the Winner title followed by Aitken Spence PLC earning the Runner- up position.

In the Finance Services and Insurance Category Ceylinco Life Insurance Limited clinched the Winning title whilst Alliance Finance Company PLC was the runner up. In the General Services Category Dialog Axiata PLC stood out securing the Winner title through its commitment to sustainable business practices and technological innovation.

In the Leisure and Connected Services Category John Keells Hotels PLC was recognized as the winner, while Aitken Spence Hotel Holdings PLC secured the runner-up position.

Retail and Trading Category -Hayleys Fabric PLC claimed the Winning title, while Horana Plantations PLC and Brandix Apparel (Pvt) LTD were the Joint Runners-up, highlighting their efforts towards sustainable sourcing, manufacturing, and supply chain management.

Bitumix expands CSR scholarship programmes
Bitumix Private Limited, a leading company in the production and sale of bitumen and related products in Sri Lanka, has expanded its corporate social responsibility (CSR) by implementing the latest stage of the ‘Bitumix Sisu Senehasa’ scholarship programme to students from low-income families.

Under this programme, financial assistance is provided to selected students from the Anuradhapura District who excelled in their education. The students are benefitted through this programme to complete their school and university education.

The scholarship programme, a concept of Bitumix Managing Director Ashoka Siriwardena, was first launched in 2014 by providing financial assistance to six students. Over the past, hundreds of students have received assistance under this programme.

In addition to providing monthly allowances, Bitumix also provides students with school books and other school items annually.
